MARCH MATH MADNESS

“March Math Madness” was the theme of our first Family Math Night.  The night started out with a complimentary dinner and ended in an exciting raffle!  The purpose of the night was to share in family fun while strengthening our math computation skills.  Students and parents had the opportunity to experience three math stations.  They completed First in Math problems in the computer lab, used algebraic thinking while solving Marcy Cook puzzles, and problem solved while playing a friendly game of Bingo.  We had wonderful attendance and plan to make Family Math Night available to all students next school year! Thank you to the following faculty and staff for planning and participating in Family Math Night:

Ms. Matias, Mrs. Wilcox, Mrs. Bannon, Mrs. Donovan, Mr. Sumner, Mrs. Palmer, Mrs. Sharkey, Mrs. McCracken, Mr. Nguyen, Coach K., Coach Del Mundo, Mrs. Houck, Mrs. Kang, Mrs. Fedak, and Ms. Ryan.

FIRST IN MATH UPDATE

OLQA has reached 462,000 stickers in the First In Math online math program.  Way to go! The students who are using the program on a daily basis are showing improvement in their math scores and classroom work.  Studies show that in order to master math skills, Deep Practice techniques are needed.  The Deep Practice techniques employed by the First In Math program rapidly increase computation, problem solving, critical thinking and essential math basics.
