Red Ribbon Week – October 23-31, 2011

Our Lady Queen of Angels participated in the Red Ribbon Week drug prevention campaign October 23-31, 2011.  Red Ribbon Week serves as a vehicle in the prevention of drug use by educating our youth with the ultimate goal being a drug free America. Each day the students participated in an activity to educate and support the cause.

Monday: “I Pledge To Be Drug Free” Students pledged to be drug free and signed their name during the day on the Drug Free Banner. Teachers talked to the students about what it means to take the pledge to be drug-free and passed out Drug Free wristbands.

Tuesday: Red Ribbon Day Each class received red ribbons to tie to the white fence that is at the exit of our parking lot. The Drug Free Banner was hung on the fence from Monday to Friday along with the ribbons.

Wednesday: “Hats off to a Drug Free School” Students wore their favorite hat to school to reiterate the importance of being drug free and say “hats off to a drug free school.”

Thursday: “Sock It to Drugs” Students wore crazy socks all day for “Sock it to Drugs Day”.  This was a fun way to remind students that it’s fun saying “no” to drugs.

Friday: Run/Walk From Drugs – Fun Run!!!

Each class participated in a run around the course during PE.  The message was to teach our students about keeping their bodies healthy by exercising and to maintain a healthy lifestyle by staying away from drugs.
